The latest news about this company is its merger with Frontier and the fact that they will soon begin operating under that company's name. The merger, initiated in early 2010, will take approximately 18 months to complete. As with most of the other small and regional carriers, a lot of their business is from people who fly often because business makes them. Midwest's service destinations has increased from a little over 40 to close to 70 including popular locations in Mexico and Costa Rica. This is a strong company that will only get stronger when the merger is finished.

Before long it will be no surprise if we start to see the unique tale designs of Frontier airlines begin showing up on Midwest planes. In 1994 Frontier began creating a different persona for its aircraft. They solely wanted to be different from any other carrier. Around this time is when we began to see some unique designs of wildlife themes on the planes. This strategy ultimately brought about advertising concepts used today. Now there are around 50 different animals that can be seen sprawled across the tales of their planes. It will be interesting to see if Frontier continues this tradition onto the Midwest flights.

International Shipping has participated in a process referred to as Code sharing for a number of years. Many airlines participate in this process which is a smart move. Many airlines are able to keep their flight schedules in sync with others using this Code sharing process.

Travelers gain the most benefit from Code sharing in that there are more enhances destinations and connection schedules that are most favorable and convenient for their travel needs. Either company can operate a flight that has been designated as a codeshare flight.

Many policies are made concerning airline operations but most of those concern luggage and its fees. For example, most airlines assign a fee to any single piece of luggage that weighs more than fifty pounds. Unfortunately there is no system in place to refund luggage fees once they have been paid, so keep this in mind if you discover, at the last minute, that you can't bring your item or you decide to leave it at home. Sometimes a piece of baggage will be exempt from fees but it is best to contact Midwest/Frontier to make sure about whether or not you will have to pay. The best thing that you can do if you are concerned is to double check and make sure that you leave your house with every piece of luggage that you want to take and that everything you want to take with you meets all of the applicable size and weight guidelines put forth by the airline. The global economy crisis has put most of the airlines through hell. While some of the airlines have been hit harder than others, Midwest stays healthy because they are merging with Frontier. This merger will help the company serve more destinations and increase their capital assets. Merging and Code sharing is what will help the smaller airlines earn more profits and offer more services via Midwest/Frontier. There is a lot happening with Midwest as the merger continues to roll-out over the 2010-2011 period."
